I feel like I have been in a relationship with travel for a very long time.. and though I haven’t stopped moving in the last year.. In fact, I think I have traveled the most consistently this year.. I think my relationship status with wanderlust has currently changed.
It’s Monday morning and all of a sudden you want to be a Flight Attendant — Well first things first subscribe to my email list below to receive my exclusive article on ‘Three Simple Steps to Become a Flight Attendant’ immediately — for your reading pleasure!
Next up on the agenda — Yes I did crawl into a bin to take a picture. Yes it was hilarious watching me shimmy myself up into that damn thing. Yes the plane was empty. No I did not injure myself on the way down. Yes I have photos. So here you go!
**Disclaimer – please do not try this on your next flight. It will make for a very unhappy flight crew haha!**
We arrived a little bit earlier than expected so we had about twenty minutes of down time and decided to have a little photo shoot! I never expected to get such great feedback from this photo — it was a silly, fun twenty minutes between flights that turned into a ton of hysterical photos. We were cracking up the entire time.
I love my job. It allows me to have the life I desire — If you are curious about the cabin crew world SUBSCRIBE to my newsletter below to get all of my exclusive tips and tricks on how to become a flight attendant from a cabin crew expert!
Quick update on me — Between my job and free time I have been traveling nonstop for the last few months. However I’ve manage to collect a few videos and photos along the way to share with you! The next couple weeks I’ll be featuring Central and Southern California! What to do, how to get there and so on and so forth!
So enough back story lets jump into that good — good. A couple of months ago we decided to rent a car on one of our trips and take a stroll up to the Sign of the Stars.
**I call this a stroll only because yours truly is not the most athletic one in the room — an abbreviated hike is probably the best way to describe what went down here **
A light-hearted post for your Tuesday. I went to Boston over the weekend for less than fifteen hours. It was 26 degrees and I haven’t made you a video in a while. If you only have a couple of hours in Boston and don’t want to:
A. Be super bored.. B. Stay in the airport or.. C. Eat McDonald’s – here is your quick guide to Boston in 45 seconds.
Today we are going to talk about mental health. Even though we are in the middle of October.. Mental Health Week was this first week of this glorious pumpkin picking, sweater wearing month. I’m late, but what’s new. Let’s talk about it.
Hi my name is Kylie, I have dealt with anxiety and depression on and off for the last 5 years of my adult life. I’m not going to go into the depths of it because A. It’s a long story B. It is still a little bit too raw to get into too much detail and C. I’m just not ready to blast you with that type of melodrama over the internet. But just know that it exists in my world.
And in my world traveling has always been the cure. It is the thing that grounds me and brings me back to my center. Diving deep into a different culture gives me a chance to take a step out of my brain and peer into my soul. It is the most important thing I do.
Now I am not discrediting the pharmaceutical side of mental health.. because trust me Xanax is a god among drugs and really works when you feel like your heart might explode out of your chest. What I do want to bring attention to is the freedom that traveling gives me, when I am feeling the lowest of lows. And I have found that I am not the only one.
***Hello internet world! I know I have been MIA. We had the Matthew scare down here last week in South Florida, which meant I spent two full days preparing for one inch of rain. That being said, we are feeling super blessed that all we received were mild winds and a little water, our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone that was affected. It’s heartbreaking to see how much damage this storm caused not only to our sister states but also to our Caribbean neighbors. Sending so many good vibes. Below is the post that was meant for last Wednesday, hope it is still semi-relevant. xx Kye***
An art I have perfected, is the art of doing nothing. Yes this is a travel blog. Yes I know, you are wondering why I am talking about doing nothing. But we are talking about the art of nothingness because it does pertain to travel, and it’s importance is immense.
It’s urgent that you visit Bogotá. Bogotá lives in Colombia. Colombia has things that are important. Things that are important include coffee, cheese, arepas, fried things, corn sent from heaven, a bread delivery service, etc. and that’s really all you need to know.. yes. Post over.
You should also know it is Colombia.. not Columbia. It’s not the sportswear or the University.. we are talking about the country people. Please do not get confused. Trust me when I tell you, I just spared you a very, abusive scolding, from an extremely, proud Colombian, at some point in your life and yes take note that most Colombians fall under the extremely proud category… And to answer your question, it’s true, I did receive that scolding at one point in time from a very proud Colombian, thanks Laura. Viva Colombia!
As you all know, I took time to travel through part of the great country of Colombia this past weekend. So I made you a video.. I know I was supposed to bring you a video on Friday, but I didn’t.. so here it is now. I hope you enjoy! Can’t wait to tell you more about my trip later this week!
I am going to be 110% honest with you right now. I totally had another post planned for today. I was going to talk to you a little bit about who I am and why I have come up with this new concept for my blog..but I have changed my mind.
I have had a revelation in the last two weeks, a quarter life crisis if you will. This has caused me to shift, it has cause me to redesign the way that I live. I love my family, I love my friends, I love my home, I love that I travel for a living. However, lately I have realized how much I have truly missed writing and talking to my internet friends (i.e. you) behind a keyboard. And quite frankly, I miss the freedom to explore the world indefinitely.
So.. I’m back. I’ve been thinking a lot about this blog of mine, that I’ve had all these years. This sad, neglected, blank space of internet that I have created. And it has been eating at my conscious. Unfortunately my laziness has trumped my actual desire to provide any type of information to my fellow travelers. For that I am sorry. And the worst part of all of this, is the sheer fact that I have been nonstop traveling for the last 730 days of my life (not including my 5 month hiatus to South East Asia). For those of you that are not interested in kindergarten math, that equates to two years. Yes. On July 28th it was officially two full years that I have been consistently traveling without sharing any information. So thats cool. I have a stupid amount of knowledge and experiences that I should be sharing with you but because I am completely scatter brained, you know nothing.
Anyways. All this time I have not been writing, I have been thinking (believe it or not) and analyzing. The question I keep coming back to is “How do you Travel?” So now I am here. And I am still wondering. How do you travel? The last few years has made me realize that we all travel in different ways. And thats good. It’s okay. It’s important.
So today we commence in the resurrection of this small, stunted space of a .com that used to be filled with information, stories and so much soul, and we rejoice; for Ohmyitskye has spoken and will now shine.
Welcome to: How do you Trvl by Ohmyitskye
Internet friends its time. I want to know How you travel. This is my latest quest. My latest adventure. My latest curiosity. I want to know. How do you do it? Do you travel in luxury. Do you travel like a gypsy. Do you travel for knowledge, experience, escape. Do you travel in Billabong board shorts or in Givenchy leather coat. In the air or on the ground. Let’s chat. There is no wrong way to travel. But I wanna know.
Over the next few weeks I will be sharing how I travel and some of the tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way. I am hoping to find out how you travel too. Please be sure to comment below and check back on Wednesdays for my weekly post. Or you can subscribe down below to get weekly updates.
